Impact Hub Berlin Team Evolution
As part of the global Impact Hub network since 2014, we’ve come a long way since our four co-founders opened our first ‘proto-Hub’ coworking space in Berlin’s Neukölln district.
Our leadership
A year after that, we opened our next space (five times bigger than the first) and saw our community really take off - they haven’t looked back since! We’re now closing in on the opening of our next new space (another five-fold growth) and are going back to our roots, not far from where our founders’ vision took its first steps.
As co-founders and Managing Directors of Impact Hub Berlin, Nele Kapretz and Leon Reiner have been the engine of our growth and impact for almost a decade.
In that time, the team they’ve built has supported hundreds of impact entrepreneurs to create positive change in the world through our community and innovation programmes, and inspired tens of thousands of people through our events and partnerships.
Transitioning the #TransitionTeam
As we start this exciting new year for Impact Hub Berlin, we are also very proud that our team is evolving too. After several years at the helm of the Hub, Nele will be taking a year’s maternity leave from February onwards. Though stepping back from operational involvement, Nele will retain her place on the board, and will - of course - still play a part in our (soon-to-be-announced!) opening party.
In her years leading Impact Hub Berlin, Nele’s achievements have been recognised many times, from her inclusion on Handelsblatt’s ‘25 Women Revolutionising Our Economy’ list in 2018, to last year being named one of EUCLID’s Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise.
The Impact Hub Berlin team and community will always appreciate the personal and professional development Nele has inspired in us, all the 1-on-1 coffee chats, and the supportive and steady leadership through both the successes and the tough times.
Passing the baton
Leon will continue in his role as Managing Director, and from early 2022 will be joined by two new additions to our Leadership Work Area. Héloïse Le Masne will be stepping up as Operations Director, and Alex Tillack will become our Financial Director.
Both these makers bring many years of impact and entrepreneurial experience both within the Impact Hub Berlin team and outside it, and they’ll have the support of the whole organisation in steering our growth strategy and impact throughout the next year and beyond.
Our vision of an equitable future for people and planet, driven by a thriving impact innovation community, remains the same, and our values of trust, courage and collaboration will continue to guide us there.
We’re hugely excited for this next phase in our journey, as we bring our new space to life with new members, new colleagues and new leadership. Thank you for being on this ride with us so far, and here’s to the Next Big Steps!
