This report is dedicated to every impact entrepreneur and professional contributing to a just and sustainable future.
At the heart of our work lies our purpose to empower impact-driven businesses with the resources they need to succeed, backed by more than a decade of pioneering experience.

Through programmes for startups, corporates and public organisations, as well as coworking and events for impact professionals, Impact Hub Berlin empowers entrepreneurs and innovators to MAKE IMPACT WORK!
Make Impact Work is more than just a slogan....
Ten years of Impact Hub Berlin in 2024. More than a decade of believing that business can drive better futures, building community, infrastructure, and momentum for impact in one of Europe’s most complex startup environments.
In 2024, we didn’t just celebrate – we leveled up our impact by restructuring our organisation to focus on what matters: Coworking and programmes and brought in two brilliant leaders: Alicia Feig and Harsha Jagasia, to drive those areas forward. We completed our 3,500 sqm coworking space – circular-built, award-winning, and buzzing as the home of Berlin’s impact scene. Adding to that momentum we secured the biggest public contract in our history with Nachhaltig Wirken by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, expanding our ability to serve Germany’s impact ecosystem at scale.
We also took the stage – literally and figuratively. The second edition of our Impact Entrepreneurship Forum sparked serious cross-sector energy. And being named one of Europe’s top startup hubs by the Financial Times sent a clear signal: impact is no longer the side project, it’s central to the future of innovation.
But here’s the truth: 2024 was tough, budgets were slashed, startups struggled, companies pulled back. Even well-meaning regulations like CSRD pushed sustainability into a bureaucratic corner. And behind the scenes, entire parts of the ecosystem began to quietly fracture.
It’s time to stop pretending this is business as usual. We’re entering an age of polycrisis, climate breakdown, war, economic instability – and we need a new kind of resilience. One rooted in purpose, radical collaboration and razor-sharp in execution.
At Impact Hub Berlin, we’re not backing down. We’re doubling down! We believe impact isn’t just morally right, it’s economically smart. We’re building a place where the boldest ideas, the toughest questions, and the most future-ready business models can take root.
If you’re ready to shape what comes next, you’ll find us here with our sleeves rolled up - making impact work.
by Leon Reiner, Managing Director, Impact Hub Berlin
Impact can not happen in isolation, it needs collaborative action
Impact professionals and innovation managers face major barriers, especially with opaque public funding models, a lack of tailored support, and persistent bottlenecks in financing and product-development, which slow scaling and the uptake of impact solutions. According to the German Social Entrepreneurship Monitor (DSEM) and the Green Startup Monitor (GSM), these groups need clearer funding routes, more innovation-friendly procurement and research transfer, and stronger networks.
Our impact report paints a clear picture of how Impact Hub Berlin helps impact professionals and innovation managers overcome these challenges, with measurable success.
Through targeted programmes and coworking, we at Impact Hub Berlin provide access to growth opportunities, shared infrastructure, investor and grant navigation, and a collaborative community that gives impact makers what they need to build, test and scale their impact work.

Our Programmes

With our tailor-made programmes we empower impact entrepreneurs and innovators from corporates to public institutions to bring their impact agendas to life and scale. With a focus on human centric and ecosystem-connected programmes, we continue to strengthen Impact Hub Berlin’s large Impact Ecosystem, enabling partnerships and connections that power the growth of the sector.

In 2024 we directed our focus to pressing trends and global challenges such as climate tech, AI, and mobility, forming new partnerships while continuing our flagship startup programmes. From incubation to acceleration and investment, our programmes enable impact startups to scale their impact and business sustainably. The Berlin Founders Programme empowered young entrepreneurs with the skills, networks and tools essential to start their impact business in the European market. Meanwhile, the Berlin Startup Stipendium Impact Incubator supported five pioneering climate tech teams to prepare their products for market through a tailored curriculum, coaching and a monthly stipend. Now four out of five teams have secured investment or strategic partnerships, and significantly grown their customer base.
For later stage startups, the Impact Accelerator, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and Empower Now programme for FLINTA* founders in cooperation with TikTok empowered diverse entrepreneurs to refine their business models, build their resilience and strengthen their partnership readiness.

Alongside our startup programmes, continued our investment management work with Bethmann Bank and the Green Explorers intrapreneurship programme for Lufthansa Group. Together with our partners, we are activating the whole ecosystem, fulfilling cross-sector impact agendas and laying the groundwork for long-term growth, strengthened collaboration and a more inclusive and sustainable future. Finally, 2024 saw the launch of the Climate Action Ecosystem and Accelerator to foster co-creation, innovation, and systemic impact in the most pressing impact field of our time. This work will continue for the next three years, to enable impact innovation at scale to solve the climate crisis.

“We gained immensely from the Sustainable Food Systems ImpAct Accelerator, particularly with regards to our pricing strategy, business modelling, and marketing. I would recommend the programme to early-stage startups.”

Our Coworking

Our 3500 sqm circular-built coworking located in Berlin-Neukölln is the home of Berlin's impact scene and our impact community. We provide a space to work, connect, and collaborate for the most influential professionals to make impact work.
400valuable business connections were made in our impact community

In 2024, Impact Hub Berlin completed the CRCLR house, a fully circular coworking space using over 70% reused or upcycled materials, addressing the construction industry’s high CO₂ emissions and waste. Our memberships were updated with Office Flex and Fixed Desk options, supporting hybrid work and flexible, high-quality infrastructure for impact-driven teams and entrepreneurs.
Our coworking became a platform combining infrastructure, community, and circularity, laying the groundwork for a scalable, sustainable model for purpose-driven workspaces by 2030. With pilot projects like Campus Cosmopolis, a co-living initiative in our house we explored regenerative, mixed-use urban neighborhoods, integrating sustainability, community, and shared ownership.

“We get to experience the full range of what Impact Hub has to offer – from the cellar to the roof! Our lab in the basement is an open, multifunctional space: Here, we offer hands-on training in sensor technology or organise interdisciplinary lectures, discussing AI applications for public-interest environmental projects. We also provide on-site support and co-working opportunities. (...) Our envisioned target audience for this mission? NGOs, initiatives, academics and scientists, startups and private individuals interested in social or environmental issues or ecological topics. Sounds familiar? This list of people reads as a who-is-who of the HUB Community!”

Our Events

Our three spacious event locations can host between 50 to 250 guests, making them ideal for workshops and events for impact driven organisations and our own events.
100events hosted
35%of events being open to the public
In 2024, our events work at Impact Hub Berlin focused on strengthening community connections and testing new internal strategies. We did collaborations with community-driven formats like Fuckup Nights and rooftop gatherings, offered tailored event partnership packages to deepen collaboration, and piloted co-created events that support our long-term mission of building an inclusive, regenerative future.

In 2024, we made meaningful progress toward our long-term goal of using events as a catalyst for connection and collaboration. Our focus was on creating space, both physically and socially, for communities, innovators, and partners to gather around topics that matter to them.
We hosted a wide range of events that reflected the interests and needs of our ecosystem, from climate action to social entrepreneurship and inclusive innovation. More importantly, we began to shift from being just event organisers to becoming facilitators of connection, offering our platform, our space, and our support to those driving change. 2024 laid the foundation for our vision of 2030: to be a trusted home for collaboration, where events are not just moments, but springboards for long-term partnerships, community-driven solutions, and shared impact.

“A place where you feel at home. Good, relaxed atmosphere and room climate. The feeling of having a contact person at all times. The guided tours of the building were a valuable experience for the participants and were highly praised afterwards.”

The Loop

The Loop is our low-waste café where our impact community gathers and connects. Our offering is fully plant-based, organic, seasonal, and regional, staying true to the name of our location - the CRCLR house.
606kgof rescued fruits and vegetables
50Community lunches
9collaborations with local food entrepreneurs
100%vegan, organic, local and seasonal catering, daily
2024 in our low-waste café - the Loop marked a year of strengthening sustainable partnerships, nourishing our community, and building a foundation for a transparent and collaborative hospitality model, which focuses on community.
We focussed on building strong, value-aligned partnerships with small food businesses and local producers as well as establishing community rituals like the weekly community lunch to foster exchange, identity with Impact Hub Berlin and fun. By using methods like fermentation and accurate forecasting to reduce waste, we were setting circular standards in our food offering.
Our highlights in The Loop were that we partnered with for example Querfeld, Roots Radicals, Kaska to tackle food waste and raised awareness on food waste and circularity. Our community lunch became a regular platform for connection and visibility, with community members or partners or The Loop presenting their own projects.
We provided nutritious, plant-based meals that support productivity during working hours and health. Food that feels good and does good.

“At The Loop, hospitality is not just a nice-to-have, it's where real connection happens. We create spaces where people feel cared for, inspired, and nourished - physically and mentally. Through thoughtful food experiences, we make sustainability tangible: from zero-waste cooking and circular sourcing to everyday learning about conscious nutrition. It’s about making people feel at home while planting seeds for collective change.”

Our Highlights 2024

Impact Entrepreneurship Forum

In 2024, we hosted the second Impact Entrepreneurship Forum at Berlin Global Village. The event brought together policymakers, business leaders, NGOs, and impact entrepreneurs to explore how entrepreneurship can drive systemic change. With keynote contributions from impact thought leaders and the patronage of Dr. Robert Habeck, and other influential voices from government, business, and civil society, the forum offered a dynamic mix of inspiration and collaboration. It provided a high-level platform for co-creation, strategic partnerships, and actionable ideas to strengthen Germany’s impact economy.

10 Years Celebration

In 2024, we celebrated our 10th anniversary, reflecting on our journey from a small innovation hub to the leading hub in impact entrepreneurship. Over the past decade, we launched pioneering programmes, opened the CRCLR house, our fully circular coworking for sustainable innovation, and fun fact, even welcomed Prince Charles. Our community continues to drive ventures that reshape industries and make a difference for humans and the planet, proving the power of entrepreneurship for impact.

Leadership Change

Over the past years, at Impact Hub Berlin we have sharpened our focus on what we do best, delivering high-impact programmes and fostering an inspiring coworking community to give impact entrepreneurs everything they need to make impact work. With Harsha Jagasia as Director of Programmes and Alicia Feig, Director of Coworking, we are doubling down on our core services to create even greater value for entrepreneurs, innovators, and impact-driven organisations.

Nachhaltig Wirken funding

From our first €50,000 crowdfunding campaign at the beginning of our journey to a multi-million euro revenues and multi-year government-supported programmes like Nachhaltig Wirken in 2024 (funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus)), we’ve seen the impact funding landscape evolve dramatically. Today, the impact scene has more financial opportunities than ever!

Nawi.berlin

The nawi.berlin project provided subsidised workspaces and targeted support to young sustainable businesses in Berlin throughout 2024. A total of 18 startups benefited from the programme, working across sectors including climate tech, nature conservation, sustainable food, and circular economy. Through nawi.berlin, these ventures received the resources and guidance needed to grow their impact—contributing to a more sustainable, innovative, and livable Berlin.

Berlins Soziale Unternehmen Award

In 2024, Social Economy Berlin, together with Impact Hub Berlin, celebrated the Berlin Social Enterprise Awards, honoring organisations making Berlin more inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready. Nine finalists competed across the categories People, Planet, and Transformation, with winners including Get2Germany, ReDi School, ForTomorrow, VARM, IMPARI, and Repair Circle. The awards highlighted innovative solutions from supporting skilled migrants and advancing gender equality to promoting climate action and circular economy initiatives.

Impact Startups Landscape

We completed a milestone for Germany’s Impact Startup Ecosystem: Leon Reiner, Founder and Managing Director of Impact Hub Berlin, together with Norbert Herrmann (Head of Start-up Affairs, Berlin Senate – SenWEB) and Konstantin Kolloge (BMWK), unveiled the beta version of the Impact Startups Landscape, a digital directory of Germany’s impact startups, now counting over 1,400 ventures tackling social and environmental challenges. Developed in close cooperation with all German states and curated by the country’s Impact Hubs, the platform, hosted on Dealroom, offers the first structured overview of the ecosystem by region.

Climate Action Accelerator: Fashion Forward

With our first ever accelerator focusing on fashion, we are reimagining the future of fashion and we are shaping a future where fashion is regenerative, circular, and waste-free, a future where innovation and sustainability work hand in hand. Over a three-month programme, we supported five pioneering startups developing new approaches to materials, consumption models, and supply chains, helping to accelerate the transition toward a more circular and sustainable fashion industry.

AI Trend Report

In 2024 we released our first Trend Report focusing on AI called “AI for Inclusive Climate Action”. The report highlights how artificial intelligence can accelerate sustainable and inclusive transformation and identifies eight key AI trends spanning sustainable food, circular economy, green tech, and diversity, equity & inclusion. Beyond mapping these trends, the report showcases cutting-edge AI-driven innovations and outlines opportunities for entrepreneurial development in building a more sustainable and equitable economy.
